The Mixing Tank Series
The Mixing tank series is composed of different types of tanks. Some of them are full jacketed, others are miller plate. In the case of full jacketed tanks, the bottom structure is spun into a R angle. Polyurethane foam is used for insulation. The shell can be polished or mirror polished. The agitating device is a top center mixing shaft that disperses the product with high shear.
Lab scale tank with two hydrofoil impellers
Two-stage, high-shear bionic impellers have been developed for use in laboratory fermentation. The bionic impeller is based on the same principles as plane propellers and boat propellers, with similar winglet approaches to the impeller design. This design maximizes the shear produced by the tip region of the impeller, which is important for the biomedical material in the broth.
One-third of the diameter of the vessel is taken up by the lowermost impeller, with the additional two positioned 1.2-impeller-diameters away. The diameter of a concave bladed impeller is about a third of the diameter of the tank, while a hydrofoil impeller has a diameter of 0.5-0.6 times the tank’s height.
In this study, researchers used a Lab scale tank with two hydrofoil-impregnated impellers. These impellers produce different shear fields in the sample. This interaction between compartments will vary as the number of impellers increases. While these results are inconsistent, they demonstrate that the combination of two hydrofoil-impregnated impellers can result in a significant change in the rheology of the sample.
Hydrofoils have a substantial track record in laboratory settings. They have successfully been used to stir lignocellulosic slurries. They have been used in all pretreatments, with solids levels as high as 23%. And they are now widely used in industrial facilities for this reason. You can even retrofit your facility with these hydrofoil impellers if you’ve got an existing one.
Although these tanks share the same geometrical characteristics, they have very different energy dissipation rates. This is the maximum amount of energy that particles undergo in a given volume. The maximum energy dissipation rate (emax) affects particle breakage and strain. Furthermore, it causes an undesirable stress on shear-sensitive particles. Although these properties are not easy to predict numerically, they’re accessible with laser-based techniques.
Kasco De-Icers
The Kasco De-Icer is a powerful deicer that can operate in saltwater or freshwater conditions. This tank heater features a non-corroding stainless steel motor and anode. It is also equipped with a power cord that is ETL and UL listed. Unlike some deicers, this unit does not require any maintenance. All you have to do is check the zinc anode and clean the motor housing. Then, you can let it run without worrying about winter.
The De-Icers from Kasco come with heavy-duty dock mounts and pipe that are corrosive-resistant. They are easily adjustable in depth, angle, and position. The 1/2hp de-icer can keep a 50-foot-diameter area ice-free. The 3/4-hp unit can be installed at least 20 feet above high water and submerged when the water level is low. The Kasco Horizontal Float Assembly is also a good choice for applications in shallow water or where tidal fluctuations are a problem.
This device is ideal for preventing ice damage. They move warm bottom water to the surface. By doing so, they create an ice-free zone around your in-water property. It also protects fish from ice, and allows oxygen into the water. There are two 20-foot mooring ropes included, which allow you to suspend the unit from a boat or dock. Additionally, you can order a Horizontal Flotation option for additional convenience.
The Kasco Water Circulator is a reliable and effective solution for pond and lake aeration problems. It eliminates stagnant areas, improves water quality, and reduces overall tank maintenance. This water circulation system reduces chemical and thermal stratification and enhances oxygen transfer. Kasco Circulators are energy-efficient and durable. Aeration makes your water clean and safe for swimming.
Kasco Robust-Aire Diffusers
The Robust-Aire Diffuser Series from Kasco features energy efficient piston air compressors with large air filters that require less cleaning and are much quieter than the other models. Despite their revamp, they’re still the same low price. The Robust-Aire Diffuser Assemblies come with all the fittings needed for installation, including a weighted base and the valves that control the flow of air.
Robust-Aire Diffuser systems are the best choice for mixing ponds with deep water, as they effectively move thousands of gallons of water upward. Because the air bubbles rise to the surface, they mix the water. These systems work by breaking air into micro bubbles and transferring them to the water surface. When the micro bubbles reach the surface, oxygen is transferred to the water.
Kasco SolarBee
Designed to produce a targeted volume of water, the SolarBee Mixing Tank series uses solar power to provide long-distance and high-volume circulation for a wide variety of applications. Designed by Ixom Watercare in Dickinson, North Dakota, the SolarBee Mixing Tank series incorporates unique features and is available for grid or solar operation. This innovative system is scalable for most applications.
